Description

The model used is a fantastic 13,1 cm Manganoan "sandwich" Calcite from Liancheng Mn deposit, Longyan, Fujian, China.

The size is 70x121x133 mm (756 gr.)

Fantastic Manganoan "sandwich" Calcite
These crystals are from a new find in 2021. The crystals are prismatic crystals of Calcite with hexagonal shapes and marked zones. And because of their look, they are known as Sandwich Calcites.

Manganoan is a variety of calcite rich in manganese, which gives the mineral a pink color. The pink color is barely visible, in the center between the two zones of white calcite.

The crystals have a great contrast to the grey limestone matrix.
Under long-wave UV light, these calcites are highly fluorescent with a beautiful rich orange glow.
