Description

The model used is a world-class Zircon specimen from Seiland, Finnmark, Norway. Zircons of this quality/size are highly valuable. Back in the day, this fantastic specimen was found by my father who lived on this island for 35 years.

The size is 95x70x49 mm (468 gr.)

The biggest crystal is 40mm and with high partly gemmy quality. That is an extreme size for this quality. If you look at the video you will see that the crystal has a little scar on the top, but anyway it is a world-class crystal that is on display in the main collection.

Zircons from Seiland are by far the world's greatest, because of their deep orange/red color with transparent and gemmy areas. The zircons are yellow SW and LW UV fluorescence.

My father lived on Seiland for 35 years, and probably build the greatest collection of zircons in the world. I inherited the collection 5 years ago, and I have had the pleasure to sell a couple of high-quality specimens to great museums/collectors around the world.

Some years ago there was established a national park on the island, which probably means there will be no more collection of zircons from this field.

If you want to see more beautiful pictures of the island and read more about zircons, please visit my mineral page: www.norwayminerals.com
